Mit dem Hellfire Quick5 Interview versuchen wir für unsere Leser möglichst interessante Infos aus den Musikern rauszukitzeln, ohne dass sie sich seitenlangen Fragen/Antworten hingeben müssen. Wir vom Hellfire bemühen uns dabei, (mehr oder weniger) kurz und prägnant im Rahmen von 5 Fragen zu agieren (manchmal kann eine Frage auch gedoppelt oder getrippelt sein); den Musikern obliegt es, nach ihrem Gutdünken zu antworten: kurz und knapp bis hin zu ausschweifend und umfangreich.
Diesmal sprachen wir mit der tschechischen Band Eat Me Fresh, die am 08. März ihr neues Album “MOB” veröffentlicht.
HF: Herzlichen Glückwunsch zu eurem neuen Album. Ich war etwas überrascht, dass es ein komplettes Album mit 12 Songs geworden ist, denn wenn ich mich recht entsinne, war der ursprüngliche Plan die Veröffentlichung einer EP. Wie und warum kam es zu diesem “Upgrade”?
EMF: Hey, vielen Dank. Zu dem Zeitpunkt damals hatten wir erst 4 Songs fertig und dann musste unser Gitarrist für ein halbes Jahr ins Krankenhaus, also haben wir weniger Shows gespielt und hatten auch keine Zeit, neue Songs zu schreiben. Wir waren froh, dass unser Freund Dominik (Acid Row) in dieser Zeit Mara’s Part übernommen hat. Als er endlich entlassen wurde, waren wir nicht für viele Shows gebucht, aber wir hatten viel Energie und Emotionen, die raus mussten, also haben wir mehr geprobt und mehr Songs geschrieben als wir gedacht hätten, also haben wir uns dazu entschieden, ein komplettes Album aufzunehmen. In dieser Zeit sind viele Dinge passiert, die unser Leben verändert haben.
HF: Ihr habt das Album “MOB” genannt, nach einem Song darauf. Warum habt ihr euch dieses Lied als Titeltrack ausgesucht? Was ist die Botschaft des Songs?
EMF: Wir haben diesen Song gewählt, weil er beschreibt, wie und wo wir leben, wir sind ein Mob und wir waren es schon immer.
HF: In den letzten 9 Jahren habt ihr viele Songs veröffentlicht. Wie hat sich der Sound von Eat Me Fresh im Laufe der Zeit entwickelt und was sind die Schlüsselelemente, die sich nie geändert haben?
EMF: Bis 2015 hatten wir sehr viele Wechsel bei den Bandmitgliedern. Als Josef dann als Drummer eingestiegen ist, wurden wir grooviger und gechillter. Unser Sound auf der Bühne ist jetzt wuchtiger und eigentlich gibt es kaum etwas, was wir ändern möchten. Was sich niemals geändert hat, sind unsere Metal Riffs und unser Equipment.
HF: Eat Me Fresh ist ja kein neuer Name in der deutschen Hardcore Szene, ihr spielt hier seit Jahren regelmäßig Shows. Warum Deutschland? Was unterscheidet Deutschland von der Hardcore Szene in eurer Heimat oder der anderen europäischen Länder, in denen ihr bereits gespielt habt?
EMF: Deutschland ist klasse, denn es liegt nah bei uns und die Shows sind immer großartig. Die Promoter sind alle sehr hilfsbereit und viele Leute in der Szene nehmen auch Entfernungen in Kauf. In Tschechien vermissen wir das ein bisschen, denn die Szene ist nicht sehr groß und die Leute fahren auch nicht weit, um eine Show zu sehen. Die Shows in Frankreich, Italien, UK, Schweiz, Belgien und all den anderen europäischen Ländern waren auch großartig, aber da spielen wir leider nicht so oft. Da wir alle Vollzeit arbeiten und nur eine begrenzte Zahl an Urlaubstagen haben, können wir nicht so oft touren.
HF: Was steht bis zum Album-Release noch so auf eurem Plan? Vielleicht eine neue Single? Wie werdet ihr den Release von “MOB” feiern und wie sehen eure Pläne für 2019 bisher aus?
EMF: Vor ein paar Wochen haben wir zu “PURPLE GREEN”, einem der Songs vom Album, ein Video veröffentlicht, bis zum Album-Release sind keine weiteren Auskopplungen geplant. Die Veröffentlichung werden wir mit unseren Kumpels von SWAMPS feiern, am 04.04. in Pilsen und auch bei anderen Shows unserer Tour. Ihr könnt auch noch auf ein paar Videos freuen und wir möchten gern auch noch mehr Shows spielen und an neuem Material arbeiten.

Hellfire Quick 5 interviews try to gather a lot of interesting information within the narrow frame of five questions and five answers. Sometimes a query may be divided into two or three partial questions. It’s up to the musicians to answer short, longer or excessively.
Today we talk to Eat Me Fresh from Czech Republic who will release their new album „MOB“ on March 8, 2019.
HF: Congratulations on your new album. I was surprised to see that it’s a full album with 12 tracks ’cause if I remember correctly, your original plan was to release another EP. When and why did this „upgrade“ happen?
EMF: Hey, thank you so much. At that time we had only 4 songs done and after that our guitarist was hospitalized for half a year, so we were playing less shows and had no time to write new songs, we where happy that we had our friend Dominik (Acid Row) who filled up Mara’s part for the time. When he was out of there, we didn’t had many shows booked, but we had lots of energy and emotions to bring out, so we were practicing more and we managed to write more songs than we thought, so we decided to do a full length album. There were a lot of things that happened during that time that changed our lives.
HF: You named the album “MOB” after a song on the record. Why did you choose this song to be the title track of your new record? What’s the message of this song?
EMF: We chose this song because it is a specification of how and where we live, we are a mob and we always were.
HF: During the last 9 years you released quite a number of songs. How did the sound of Eat Me Fresh evolve over time and what are the key elements that never changed?
EMF: There was a lot of change in members until 2015 when Josef joined us to play the drums, from that time we became a bit groovier and chilled. We think that our sound on stage is now heavier and there is not much we would like to change. The elements that never change are our metal riffs and the equipment that we have.
HF: Eat Me Fresh is not a new name in the German Hardcore Scene, you’ve been playing shows in Germany on a regular basis for years now. Why Germany? What’s different compared to the Hardcore Scene in your country or all the other European Countries where you already played shows?
EMF: Germany is great because its very close to us and the shows are always great, the promoters are very helpful and there is a lot of people in the scene that really go out. In Czech Republic we miss this, because the scene is not large and people don’t drive long distances to see a show. Shows in France, Italy, UK, Switzerland, Belgium and other european states were great too, but we don’t play there much because we work full time and we have limited days off so we can’t tour that often.
HF: What’s on your agenda until the release of the album? A new single maybe? How are you going to celebrate the release of „MOB“ and what are your plans for 2019 so far?
EMF: We already released one of the songs from the album with a video clip a few weeks ago named ”PURPLE GREEN’’ ,there will be no more songs until the release. We will be celebrating the release with our brothers in SWAMPS on 4/4 2019 in Pilsen and other shows from our tour. You can expect more video clips, we would like to come back to play more shows and work on some new stuff too.
