Erinnerst du dich noch an eure erste Show?

Hellfire Quick 5 interviews try to gather a lot of interesting information within the narrow frame of five questions and five answers. Sometimes a query may be divided into two or three partial questions. It’s up to the musicians to answer short, longer or excessively.

Today we talk to Vin Valentino, singer of Delta Enigma from Finland who just released their new single „Waterfall“.

HF:Congratulations on your latest release. Let’s start with a proper introduction. Who are Delta Enigma and in what kind of music collection would you fit perfectly well?

Vin: Delta Enigma is Vin Valentino (vox), Julian Rose (guitar), Sammy Black (guitar), Tommy Demon (bass) and Eddie X (drums).
We have been thinking about the genre. It is really difficult to say. We mostly do what we want in our own style without thinking too much about genres.  We consider ourselves to be an alternative rock/metal band, even though our latest single “Waterfall” has some serious pop vibes in it. That is a dangerous thing to do for a rock band, but it was a success. The song got so much attention that we decided to release a „Waterfall” making of video on YouTube. It shows a bit of our mindset to music in general.

HF: I must admit, I just recently discovered your music but Delta Enigma has been around for a couple of years already. What are the essential moments of DE-history I should know about? Some kind of milestones along the way?

Vin: Me and Julian have been friends since we were kids. He asked me if I would like to form a band with him. I said yes and I quickly came up with the name „Delta Enigma” and a band logo. Visuality has always been important for me. It comes as no surprise that I’ve directed over 80 music videos in total. About the milestone I would say that forming this current line-up has been the most important one. We have insanely good team spirit. Not only among the band members, but also with the fans.

HF: When you started the band, would you have thought, Delta Enigma would still be around after such a long time? Do you recall the first show you played as a band? What kind of feeling was this?

Vin: I have always thought Delta Enigma would be around forever. For me it’s not just a band. It’s a lifestyle. I can clearly remember the first show with Delta Enigma. It was at a local school here in Kotka, Finland in the year 2012. The audience was just a huge bunch of kids and teachers and we didn’t even have a proper PA system back then. Some kids held fingers in their ears through the whole show.

HF: As a band you still do a lot of things yourself and keep control over the whole process. This is common for bands when it comes to recording etc., but how come you also direct your videos? Is there a bit of perfectionism coming through or is it just another way for you to express yourself creatively?

Vin: I can see the end result already in my mind before we even start doing anything and I want to work towards it. The projects are not finished until the visions are fulfilled. It’s as simple as that. We want to give our fans the most authentic experience. That’s why we do everything by ourselves.

HF: With the release of „Waterfall“ you announced that there will be two more singles this year. What can you tell as about these upcoming songs?

Vin: Our next single is „Unreality”. It has a massive music video that is full of surprises and features lots of different characters. Bizarre fairy-tale creatures mostly. Over 30 people were involved in the making of the music video. „Freakshow” would be the best word to describe the madness. „Unreality” single will be out by the end of July and the music video will be out in early August.
„Unreality” will be followed up by „Venom” which will be released in Fall 2020. It will also feature a visually beautiful music video.

HF: Thank you so much for the interview. We wish you all the best for the future and are looking forward to what we’ll hear next from you.
