Interview Eradikated: Wir wollen unsere Musik mit Metal-Fans in ganz Europa teilen

Mit dem Hellfire Quick 5 Interview versuchen wir für unsere Leser möglichst interessante Infos aus den Musikern rauszukitzeln, ohne dass sie sich seitenlangen Fragen/Antworten hingeben müssen. Wir vom Hellfire bemühen uns dabei, (mehr oder weniger) kurz und prägnant im Rahmen von wenigen Fragen zu agieren (manchmal kann eine Frage auch gedoppelt oder getrippelt sein); den Musikern obliegt es, nach ihrem Gutdünken zu antworten: kurz und knapp bis hin zu ausschweifend und umfangreich.

Schweden ist nicht nur für IKEA bekannt, sondern auch für einige der bekanntesten Metal Bands aller Genres, die dort entstanden. Die Liste ist lang und enthält Namen wie z.B. In Flames, Arch Enemy, Soilwork, Sabaton, Hammerfall… um nur einige zu nennen.
Mit ERADIKATED macht sich eine weitere Band mit ihrem kompromisslosen Thrash Metal auf den Weg, die Liste zu erweitern. Ihr Debütalbum “DESCENDANTS” ist der Beste Beweis dafür. Wir haben die Chance genutzt mit Sänger/Gitarrist Elvin Landaeus Csizmadia über das Erstlingswerk zu sprechen.

 

HF: Hallo Elvin. Vielen Dank für das Interview. Lass und kurz etwas in der Zeit zurückgehen, bevor wir über euer Debütalbum sprechen. Stelle Dich doch bitte kurz vor und wie kam der Namenswechsel von “The Generations Army” zu “Eradikated” zustande?

ELC: Hi, ich bin Elvin der Sänger von ERADIKATED und bin 23 Jahre jung. Wir sind alle in der Band also noch relativ jung. Trotzdem spielen wir schon seit 8 Jahren Thrash Metal zusammen. Wir hatten das Gefühl, dass es an der Zeit war, neu anzufangen. Von 2017 bis 2019 haben wie eine Menge Shows gespielt und waren auf kleinen Touren in ganz Europa unterwegs, die wir selbst gebucht haben. Als die Pandemie kam, hörte alles auf, und es kam der natürliche Tod von “The Generations Army”, den jüngeren Versionen von uns selbst. Es war eine Chance, uns neu zu erfinden und unsere Teenagerjahre hinter uns zu lassen. Das war anfangs nicht für alle von uns selbstverständlich, aber wir haben es am Ende gemeinsam entschieden. Kein Metal-Fan wird verwirrt sein, worum es bei “Eradikated” geht.

 

HF: Ihr wart auf Tour mit den legendären Anvil und gerade erst mit Soilwork. Dieses sind sehr bekannte Bands. Glückwunsch! Wie fühlt es sich an mit solch legendären Bands auf Tour zu sein und was könnt ihr von ihnen noch lernen?

ELC: Es ist wirklich cool, für größere Bands zu eröffnen und an Orten zu spielen, an denen wir sonst nicht spielen würden, und ein neues Publikum kennenzulernen. Diese Gelegenheiten geben uns immer neue Lernerfahrungen. Wir sehen, wie erfahrene Profis mit den verschiedenen Aspekten des Tourens umgehen, von ihren Live-Auftritten bis hin zur Logistik des Tourlebens. Wenn man mit Bands wie Anvil unterwegs ist, lernt man immer neue Tricks, zum Beispiel: Keinen starken Joint unter der Küchenlüftung rauchen!

 

HF: Euer Debütalbum “DESCENDANTS” enthält einen Song namens “Dead Heaven”. Im Review (hier) wurde Slayer´s “South of Heaven” als Vergleich herangezogen. Was sind eure musikalischen Einflüße?

ELC: Unsere musikalischen Einflüsse sind, wenn man die ganze Band mitzählt, recht vielfältig und umfassen weit mehr als Metal. Aber wir sind zweifelsohne beeinflusst von klassischen Thrash-Bands wie Slayer. Die rohe Energie und Aggression von Bands aus den 80er Jahren, Exodus, Megadeth, Metallica, haben natürlich auch einen Einfluss auf unseren Sound. Aber wir versuchen auch, unsere eigene moderne Note in unsere Musik einfließen zu lassen, um hoffentlich etwas Frisches zu erschaffen. Ich sollte auch neuere Bands wie Lamb of God und The Haunted als große Einflüsse erwähnen. Und dann sind da noch die Bands außerhalb des Metal-Genres. Ich persönlich habe mich auch mit der Hardcore-/Punkrock-Szene beschäftigt, zum Beispiel hat Rise Against einen großen Einfluss darauf gehabt, wie ich Texte schreibe und worüber ich singe. Und schließlich werde ich nicht lügen. “Dead Heaven” ist mit Sicherheit eine Anspielung auf Slayer, das konnten und wollten wir nicht verbergen, daher der Name.

 

HF: Ihr klingt wie frischer old School Thrash-Metal, der einen an die glorreichen 80er erinnert. Als Beispiel hierfür sei der Song “Coffin” genannt. War dieser Sound geplant oder entstand er über die Zeit?

ELC: Natürlich hat sich unser Sound immer weiterentwickelt und wird sich auch weiterhin weiterentwickeln. Hatte Ragnar, der den Großteil von “Descendants” geschrieben hat, eine klare Vorstellung davon, wie das Album klingen würde? Ich denke schon. Zumindest sollte “Descendants” ordentlich im Gesicht drücken, das war immer der Plan. Und ich denke, das tut es auch, besonders “Coffin”. Was wir wollen, ist vor allem Energie, viel, viel Energie. Wir bringen diesen alten Punk-Vibe zurück – kein Perfektionismus, keine Politur, nur ein explosiver Sound, den wir Live wiedergeben können.

 

HF: Werfen wir einen Blick in die Zukunft. Was sind eure Pläne und besteht die Chance Euch, auch neben den Festivalshows, mal außerhalb Schwedens auf Tour zu sehen?

ELC: Tourneen außerhalb Schwedens stehen für ERADIKATED definitiv auf dem Plan. Wir wollen unsere Musik mit Metal-Fans in ganz Europa teilen. Und neben dem Touren, werden wir weiterhin neue Musik schreiben, Alben aufnehmen und so oft wie möglich auf Festivals spielen. Ihr könnt in den kommenden Jahren weitere großartige Dinge von uns erwarten während wir weiterwachsen und uns als Band entwickeln.

Sweden is not only best known for IKEA, but also for the fact that some of the most famous Metal bands of all genres found their origin there. The list is long and includes names like In Flames, Arch Enemy, Soilwork, Sabaton, Hammerfall etc.
With ERADIKATED another band with their uncompromising thrash metal is on the way to fill this list further.
Their debut album “DESCENDANTS” is the best proof for it. So we take the chance to talk about it with Singer/Guitarist Elvin Landaeus Csizmadia .

 

HF: Hello Elvin. Thanks a lot for the Interview. Let us take a step back before we´re talking about your debut Album. Introduce yourself to our Readers and why do you change your Band name from “The Generations Army” to “Eradikated”?

ELC: Hi, this is Elvin, the singer in Eradikated. I’m 23 years old, so we’re still pretty young. In spite of that, we’ve been playing Thrash Metal together for at least eight years. We felt like it was time to start fresh. We were playing a lot of shows from 2017-2019 and going on small tours all around Europe that we booked ourselves. When the pandemic came everything stopped, and it became the natural death of “The Generations Army”, our younger version of ourselves. It was a chance to rebrand and leave our teen years in the past. It wasn’t a given to all of us initially, but it’s what we in the end decided together. No metal fan will be confused as to what “Eradikated” is about. 

 

HF: You went on Tour with the mighty Anvil and finished a little Tour with Soilwork. That are well known Artists. Congratulate How does it feel to be on tour with such legendary Bands and what are you learning from them?

ELC: It’s really cool to get to open for bigger bands and get to play venues we wouldn’t otherwise and meet new audiences. These opportunities always give us new learning experiences. We get to see how seasoned professionals handle the different aspects of touring, from their live performances to how they manage the logistics of being on the road. When on the road with bands like Anvil you always learn new tricks, for example: Don’t smoke strong bud-under the kitchen ventilation unit!

 

HF: Your debut Album “DESCENDANTS” includes a song named “Dead Heaven”. In the Review (here) Slayer´s “South of Heaven” was used as a comparison. What are your musical influences?

ELC: Our musical influences are, if you count the whole band, quite diverse, and includes much more than metal. But we are undoubtedly influenced by classic thrash bands like Slayer. The raw energy and aggression of bands from the ’80s, Exodus, Megadeth, Metallica, have of course had a significant impact on our sound. But we also aim to infuse our own modern twist into our music to hopefully create something fresh. I should also mention newer bands like Lamb of God and The Haunted as big influences. And then there are the bands outside of the metal genres. I’ve personally looked to the hardcore/punkrock scenes as well, for example Rise Against has had a big impact on how I write lyrics and what I sing about. Lastly, I’m not gonna lie. “Dead Heaven” is for sure a reference to Slayer, we couldn’t nor wanted to hide that fact, hence the name. 

 

HF: You sound like fresh old school like thrash Metal that´s reminds me of the glory 80s. For example the incredible Song “Coffin”. Was this sound planned or takes it place over the times?

ELC: Of course our sound has always evolved and will always keep evolving. Did Ragnar, who wrote most of Descendants, have a clear vision of how it would sound? I think so. At least Descendants is supposed to punch you in the face, that was always the plan. And I think it does that, especially Coffin. Most of all what we want is energy, lots and lots of energy. We’re bringing back that old punk vibe – no perfectionism, no polish, just an explosive sound that we are able to recreate live. 

 

HF: Let´s take a look to the future. What are your plans and is there a possibility to see you on Tour outside of Sweden or beside Festivals?

ELC: Touring outside of Sweden is definitely on the horizon for Eradikated. We want to share our music with metal fans all around Europe. And alongside touring, we’ll continue to write new music, record albums, and keep playing festivals whenever possible. You can expect more great things from us in the coming years as we continue to grow and evolve as a band.
