Am 13. Oktober 1986 ver\u00f6ffentlichten Saxon ihr achtes Studioalbum Rock The Nations<\/em> . Hier nun liegt mir die Deluxe Edition vor mit allerlei Bonusmaterial. <\/p>\n

Saxon bieten mir hier mittelschwere, metallische Hymnen wie “Rock The Nation<\/strong>“, “Battle Cry<\/strong>” und “We Came Here To Rock<\/strong>“, die die \u00c4ra des 1980er Albums “Wheels Of Steel” wieder aufleben lassen. Mit “Waiting For The Night<\/strong>” wird es wieder AOR. Mainstream gelagerter Rock ohne wirkliche Durchschlagskraft und bei “You Ain\u2019t No Angel<\/strong>” wei\u00df man nicht so recht, ist es Fisch oder doch Fleisch oder beides oder keines von beidem?<\/p>\n

“Running Hot<\/strong>” geht wieder gut geradeaus, “Party Til You Puke<\/strong>” setzt Rock`n Roll technisch den Sound, “Empty Promises<\/strong>” stampft sch\u00f6n aus den Boxen und “Northern Lady<\/strong>” l\u00e4sst das Album metallisch romantisch ausklingen.<\/p>\n

Bonus:<\/strong> Ein ungew\u00f6hnlicher, auf Rock The Nations vertretener Gast findet sich in Elton John, der Piano bei Northern Lady<\/strong> und Party Til You Puke<\/strong> spielt. Diese Version enth\u00e4lt Radio Edits der Singles, einige Live-B-Seiten und drei von der BBC bei Saxons Set auf dem 86er Reading Festival mitgeschnittene Tracks.<\/p>\n

Zwiesp\u00e4ltiger Eindruck? Ein wenig. Dies ist ein Album aus rockigen Tracks und einem Hauch Kommerz, entstanden in der Selbstfindungsphase Saxon`s am Ende der 80ziger Jahre. Trotz alledem h\u00e4lt mich dieser Umstand aber nicht davon ab, die Deluxe Edition in meine Sammlung aufzunehmen. Es ist f\u00fcr mich ein St\u00fcck Metalgeschichte, die ich selbst mit der Ver\u00f6ffentlichung 1986 erlebt habe.<\/p>\n
