Dieses Jahr scheint das Jahr des Symphonic Metal zu sein, denn gef\u00fchlt ist es f\u00fcnfzigste Band dieses Genres, die bei mir auf dem Seziertisch landet. Die “neueste” Formation nennt sich CRYSTAL GATES und wurde 2013 in Uruguay gegr\u00fcndet. Nach einer Single und einer ersten 6-Track EP im Jahr 2015 hat die Band aus S\u00fcdamerika nun eine neue Single namens “Shadowborn” am Start.<\/p>\n

Stilistisch geht das Ganze in die Richtung der Fr\u00fchwerke von Nightwish (“Angels Fall First”, “Oceanborn”). S\u00e4ngerin Carolina P\u00e9rez’ Stimme geht dabei nicht so h\u00e4ufig in opernhafte H\u00f6hen wie Tarja Turunen, stattdessen ist ihr Gesang etwas tiefer angesetzt. Musikalisch hat die Band eine gesunde Balance zwischen E-Gitarren und symphonischen Kl\u00e4ngen gefunden, ohne das die Musik zu \u00fcberladen klingt.<\/p>\n

Der Titelsong ist eine melodi\u00f6se Up-Tempo Nummer mit fettem Mitsing-Chorus und kurzem epischen Instrumental Intermezzo im Mittelteil, der gegen Ende nochmal richtig Fahrt aufnimmt. Der zweite Track “Dreamers (revisited)” ist eine – mit zweieinhalb Minuten leider viel zu kurz geratene – Power Ballade, die genauso klingt, wie man sie sich von den finnischen Vorbildern mal wieder w\u00fcnschen w\u00fcrde.<\/p>\n

Insgesamt ein toller Appetithappen auf ein hoffentlich bald erscheinendes Album, der vor allem Fans der ersten Nightwish Alben ansprechen sollte.<\/p>\n
