Die Melodic Metal Band MEGA COLOSSUS hat am 26.01.2024 ihr neues Album “SHOWDOWN” <\/strong>(https:\/\/www.hellfire-magazin.de\/mega-colossus-showdown<\/a>) ver\u00f6ffentlicht. Ein echter <\/strong>Klassiker und ein echter Knaller zum Start ins Metal Jahr 2024. Ende Juli, Anfang August <\/strong>touren sie durch Deutschland. Neben Festivals steht dort auch eine kleine Clubtour auf dem Programm. English below<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Hallo Bill. <\/strong>Danke das Du dir die Zeit genommen hast. Euer neues Album “SHOWDOWN” ist <\/strong>Anfang des Jahres ver\u00f6ffentlicht worden. F\u00fcr mich ein weiterer Schritt nach vorne im Vergleich <\/strong>zum Vorg\u00e4ngeralbum “RIPTIME”. Melodischer und mehr Power, aber nie werden die Wurzeln <\/strong>der Band vergessen. Gl\u00fcckwunsch!<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Danke sch\u00f6n. Wir hatten eine Menge Spa\u00df alles zusammenzustellen.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Was habt ihr ver\u00e4ndert oder was sie die gr\u00f6\u00dften Unterschiede?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Unser Ansatz war in technischer Hinsicht dem von “RIPTIME” sehr \u00e4hnlich. Wir haben es aber allerdings <\/em>viel schneller fertiggestellt. “RIPTIME” wurde w\u00e4hrend der Pandemie geschrieben, so dass wir mehr Zeit zum <\/em>Schreiben hatten. F\u00fcr dieses Projekt haben wir uns ein engeres Ziel und eine Frist gesetzt, was uns dazu <\/em>gebracht hat, schneller fertig zu werden, und das hat anscheinend gut funktioniert!<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Wie waren die allgemeinen Reaktionen auf euer neues Album?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Die positive Resonanz ist \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigend. Ich bin so froh, dass diese Platte so gut angekommen ist. <\/em>Wir machen immer einfach das, was wir tun, ohne uns viele Gedanken dar\u00fcber zu machen, wie die Dinge <\/em>ankommen werden. Ich glaube nicht, dass es f\u00fcr den kreativen Prozess gut ist, wenn man so <\/em>vorgeht, aber wenn alle von deiner Platte begeistert sind… Mir fehlen die Worte daf\u00fcr, wie toll sich das anf\u00fchlt.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Zuerst waren nur Konzerte auf Festivals best\u00e4tigt. Nun gibt es sogar eine kleine Tour <\/strong>durch Deutschland. Wie kam es dazu?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Wir haben sofort damit begonnen, alle freien Termine zu besetzen. Das war immer das Ziel. Seitdem wir <\/em>das erste Mal f\u00fcr das “Harder Than Steel” Festival im Jahr 2017 in Deutschland waren. Das ist unser Ansatz: <\/em>Auf ein Festival gehen und eine Tour darum herum aufbauen. Ich w\u00fcnschte nur wir k\u00f6nnten diese Tour l\u00e4nger <\/em>machen.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Ihr k\u00f6nnt auf eine fast 20-j\u00e4hrige Karriere zur\u00fcckblicken. Was sind deine Gedanken, wenn Du <\/strong>daran denkst? Gibt es erw\u00e4hnenswerte Highlights oder sogar Pannen?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Ich kann nicht glauben, dass es schon so lange her ist. Ich habe schon oft gesagt, dass sich dies immer <\/em>noch wie meine neue Band anf\u00fchlt. Ich denke, die Zeit vergeht wie im Flug, wenn man Spa\u00df hat. Und es hat <\/em>wirklich Spa\u00df gemacht! Meistens gab es allerdings Pannen, haha! Ich w\u00fcrde sagen, meine Highlights sind die <\/em>Fertigstellung aller Platten und die wirklich gro\u00dfartigen Touren, die wir in den letzten Jahren genossen haben. <\/em>Ich betrachte den Auftritt beim “Headbangers Open Air” und die Ver\u00f6ffentlichung eines Albums mit “Cruz Del Sur” <\/em>im selben Jahr, sind auch einige Juwelen in unserer Krone.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Das Cover von “SHOWDOWN” zeigt einen Skeletcowboy. Handelt die Geschichte, auf der das Album <\/strong>basiert, vom Wilden Westen?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Haha!!! Ich verrate es einfach! Der Song “Showdown” handelt von dem Film Face\/off. Ja, der mit Nickolas Cage und <\/em>John Travolta. Aber das Konzept eines Showdowns f\u00fchrte uns zu einem Konzept f\u00fcr das Albumcover, das eine Sammlung <\/em>verschiedenster Arten von fantastischen Konfrontationen darstellen sollte (es gab Roboterk\u00e4mpfe, Ninjas, Armdr\u00fccken usw.). <\/em>Ich denke, das f\u00fchrt unweigerlich zu einem Gef\u00fchl des klassischen Western-Showdowns. Unser Freund Chris Prince <\/em>(deadliving) hat diese Gabe, die es ihm erlaubt, eine Idee wirklich umzusetzen und am Ende kommt etwas viel <\/em>Cooleres dabei heraus, als das wir sonst vielleicht gehabt h\u00e4tten. Jetzt m\u00f6chte ich einen Song \u00fcber unseren <\/em>Skelett-Cowboy schreiben.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Lass uns einen Blick in die Zukunft riskieren. Was sind eure Pl\u00e4ne f\u00fcr die hoffentlich n\u00e4chsten <\/strong>20 Jahre?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Wow… wir k\u00f6nnen gl\u00fccklich sein, dass wir zu diesem Zeitpunkt einen 20-Monats-Plan haben, haha!!! Ich habe <\/em>das Gef\u00fchl, dass wir in Schwung gekommen sind, und wir werden versuchen den Schwung mit neuen Platten und <\/em>Touren aufrechtzuerhalten. Ich w\u00fcrde gerne unser Territorium ein wenig ausweiten. Wir hoffen, dass wir irgendwann <\/em>mal ein bisschen in unserem eigenen Land touren k\u00f6nnen, was wir schon lange nicht mehr gemacht haben. <\/em>Aber es w\u00e4re cool, \u00f6stlich nach Japan zu gehen, oder auch s\u00fcdlich nach S\u00fcdamerika!! Wir wollen \u00fcberall hingehen!!!<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Wir w\u00fcnschen euch nur das Beste f\u00fcr die kommenden Zeiten<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Das gebe ich gerne zur\u00fcck. In July, August <\/strong>they will tour through Germany. They\u00b4re at Big Festivals and also some selected Clubs. <\/strong>We took the chance and asked guitarist Bill Fisher some questions.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Hello Bill. Thank you very much for your time. Your new Album “Showdown” is released at <\/strong>the beginning of the Year. For me a step forward compared to your last album “Riptime”. More <\/strong>melodic and more powerful but never forgetting the roots of the Band. Congratulation!<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Thank you so much, we had a lot of fun putting it together.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Which Changes have you made or what are the biggest differences?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Our approach was very similar to our method for Riptime, in a technical sense. We did this one much <\/em>faster, though. Riptime was written during the pandemic, so we had more time to write. For this one, we <\/em>gave ourselves a tighter goal and a deadline, which pushed us to finish faster, and it seemed to work well!<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: What was the general response to the new record?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: The positive response has been mind-blowing. I am so pleased that this record has landed so well. <\/em>We always just do what we do without a lot of thought put into how things will be received. I don’t think <\/em>that is very good for the creative process. But when you take that approach and everyone is stoked on <\/em>your record… I don’t have the words for how great that feels.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: At first there was only Dates at Big Festivals. Now there is a little Tour through Germany. How did this happen?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: We immediately began the process of filling all the empty dates. That was always the goal. Since first coming over <\/em>for Harder Than Steel in 2017, that has been our approach; get on a festival and build a tour around it. I only wish <\/em>we could make this one longer.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: You can watch a nearly 20 year career. What are your thoughts if you think about that? Are there any notable <\/strong>highlights or mishaps?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: I cannot believe it has been that long. I have often said that this still feels like my new band. I guess time flies <\/em>when you are having fun, and it has been really fun! Mostly mishaps though, haha!! I would say my highlights are <\/em>the completion of all the records and the really great tours we have enjoyed in recent years. I consider getting on <\/em>Headbangers Open Air and Putting out a record with Cruz Del Sur in the same year to be some serious jewels in our <\/em>crown as well.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: The Cover of “Showdown” shows a skeleton Cowboy. Is the story the Album based upon about Wild West?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Haha!! I’ll just give it away! The song “Showdown” is about the movie Face\/off. Yes, the one with Nickolas Cage and <\/em>John Travolta. But the concept of a showdown led us into a concept of the album art being a collection of various types <\/em>of fantastic confrontations (there were robot fights, ninjas, there was arm wrestling, etc.). I guess that leads inevitably <\/em>to a feeling of the classic western showdown. Our friend Chris Prince (deadliving) has this gift that allows him to really <\/em>run with an idea, and we end up with something way cooler than we may have had otherwise. Now I want to write a <\/em>song about our Skeleton Cowboy.<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HF: Let\u00b4s take a look in the future. What are your plans for the hopefully next 20 years?<\/strong><\/p>\n Bill: Wow… we’re lucky to have a 20-month plan at this point, haha!! I feel like we have hit our stride, and we will try to <\/em>keep the momentum going with new records and tours. I would love to expand our territory a bit. We hope to spend <\/em>a little touring time in our own country at some point, which we haven’t really done in a while. But it would be cool to go <\/em>east to Japan, or south to South America too!!
