Bei Hijss <\/strong>handelt es sich um ein Trio aus Italien, das im Oeuvre des ebenfalls italienischen Labels Heavy Psych Sounds abgesehen von derselben Nationalit\u00e4t doch ein bisschen einen Ausrei\u00dfer darstellt. Zwar ist die Musik durchaus psychedelisch, zweifellos handelt es sich um Rockmusik. Doch wenn ich mir bei manchen der Songs auf “Stuck on Common Ground<\/strong>“, dem Deb\u00fctalbum von Hijss<\/strong>, die Gitarren wegdenke, und sie durch Synthesizer ersetze, dann lande ich bei den fr\u00fchen Sachen von Acts wie Fad Gadget oder Gary Numan. Das liegt an der tendenziell d\u00fcsteren Grundstimmung der Songs, am harschen Klangbild und nicht zuletzt daran, dass Hijss selbst Synthesizer einsetzen, unter anderem in der sehr zwingenden Nummer “Train Tracks”.<\/p>\n

Stichwort “zwingend”: Die Band schreibt mehr oder weniger durchweg mitrei\u00dfende Songs voller Hooks, die zumindest mich nicht kalt lassen. Was mich am Ende aber trotzdem etwas st\u00f6rt ist, dass der Sound auf H\u00f6hen und Tiefen setzt, Mitten aber leider zu sehr vernachl\u00e4ssigt. Das macht “Stuck on Common Ground<\/strong>” zu einem bisweilen anstrengenden H\u00f6rerlebnis. Nichtsdestoweniger hat die Band dank des starken Songwritings erstmal Geh\u00f6r. Und da nur wenige Bands auf ihrem Deb\u00fct schon ihren ultimativen Sound finden, behalten sie es mindestens bis zu ihrem zweiten Album auch. Einstweilen gibt’s von mir 7 von 10 Hellfire-Punkten<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
