Manchmal frage ich mich ja, ob die New Wave of British Heavy Metal ihre echte Bl\u00fctezeit nicht Anfang der Achtziger hatte, sondern im Hier und Jetzt. Spa\u00df beiseite, ich will keinen Geschichtsrevisionismus betreiben. Trotzdem: Die NWOBHM hat dieser Tage mindestens einen zweiten Fr\u00fchling.<\/p>\n

Dazu tragen auch Bands bei, die gar nicht aus Gro\u00dfbritannien sind. Aber auch welche von der Insel. An erster Stelle sind hier sicherlich Dark Forest<\/strong> zu nennen, die mit “Ridge & Furrow<\/strong>” nun eine EP vorlegen, die sich nicht nur vor den vorherigen f\u00fcnf Alben und drei EPs der Bands nicht zu verstecken braucht \u2013 sondern vor absolut gar nichts, das man dem NWOBHM-Banner zuordnen kann. Noch nicht mal vor Maiden. Richtig gelesen, noch nicht mal vor Maiden.<\/p>\n

“Ridge & Furrow<\/strong>” startet mit drei rund sechs Minuten langen Knallern, die vor Spielfreude, Ideenreichtum und Melodie geradezu explodieren \u2013 und, ja, einen wahrlich bemerkenswerten Einfluss auf mich haben. Etwa ertappte ich mich letztens beim Gang zum Supermarkt dabei, dass ich auf dem Gehweg eher entlang t\u00e4nzelte als lief und wieder und wieder eine Faust in die H\u00f6he reckte. Kurz vor zw\u00f6lf Uhr mittags unter der Woche. Herrlich, oder?<\/p>\n

Ja, herrlich. Und auch das dritte Drittel von “Ridge & Furrow<\/strong>” kann ich nur mir einem Wort zusammenfassen: HERRLICH!<\/p>\n

Kurzum: F\u00fcr mich bislang ganz klar einer der besten Releases des Jahres. Und definitiv die beste EP, von der ich anno 2022 mitbekommen habe.<\/p>\n
