Mit dem Hellfire Quick5 Interview versuchen wir f\u00fcr unsere Leser m\u00f6glichst interessante Infos aus den Musikern rauszukitzeln, ohne dass sie sich seitenlangen Fragen\/Antworten hingeben m\u00fcssen. Wir vom Hellfire bem\u00fchen uns dabei, (mehr oder weniger) kurz und pr\u00e4gnant im Rahmen von 5 Fragen zu agieren (manchmal kann eine Frage auch gedoppelt oder getrippelt sein); den Musikern obliegt es, nach ihrem Gutd\u00fcnken zu antworten: kurz und knapp bis hin zu ausschweifend und umfangreich.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Diesmal sprachen wir mit Sonia Anubis (ex-Burning Witches), Gitarristin der Glam Metaller COBRA SPELL, die vor kurzem ihre zweite EP “Anthems Of The Night” ver\u00f6ffentlicht haben (Review HIER<\/a>).
\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\nHF: Erst einmal herzlichen Gl\u00fcckwunsch zu eurer sehr gelungenen EP. Ihr beschreibt euch gerne als “Heavy Rock band stuck in the 80s”. Was ist f\u00fcr euch das Besondere an den 80er Jahren und wie genau kam es zur Gr\u00fcndung von Cobra Spell?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sonia Anubis (SA): Die 80er Jahre sind f\u00fcr mich ein ganz besonderes Jahrzehnt voller interessanter Kl\u00e4nge und \u00c4sthetik. Ich habe sie nie selbst erlebt, aber es scheint eine erstaunliche Zeit gewesen zu sein. Die Bands, die Filme, die Autos, die Architektur… Einfach alles! Die 80er Jahre waren gro\u00dfartig. Durch meine Leidenschaft f\u00fcr die 80er Glam-Bands f\u00fchlte ich mich inspiriert, eine Band zu gr\u00fcnden, die diese Zeit wiederaufleben l\u00e4sst und den Rock\/Metal-Helden der 80er Jahre huldigt. Das Ziel war es, die 80er Jahre so authentisch wie m\u00f6glich wiederaufleben zu lassen und ein Gef\u00fchl der Nostalgie zu erzeugen.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHF: “Anthems Of The Night” ist eure zweite EP nach “Love Venom”. Mal ganz ketzerisch gefragt, warum abermals “nur” eine EP? Ist dies nur der Vorbote f\u00fcr ein komplettes Album oder wartet ihr auf ein passendes Label Angebot?<\/strong><\/p>\n

SA: Wir glauben an Qualit\u00e4t statt Quantit\u00e4t. Obwohl wir genug Material haben, um ein Album zu ver\u00f6ffentlichen, haben wir uns trotzdem entschieden die Tracks zu ver\u00f6ffentlichen, die wir f\u00fcr w\u00fcrdig genug hielten, ver\u00f6ffentlicht zu werden. Da wir au\u00dferdem eine Independent-Band (ohne Plattenvertrag) sind, war es mit dem Budget, das wir zur Verf\u00fcgung haben, und der Qualit\u00e4t der Produktion, die wir abliefern wollten, vorerst nur realistisch, eine EP anstelle eines Albums zu ver\u00f6ffentlichen<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\nHF: Sebastian Silva, mit dem Du die Band gegr\u00fcndet hast, ist nicht mehr im offiziellen Line Up aufgef\u00fchrt, ist aber Hintergrund weiter in der Band t\u00e4tig. Hat dies allein terminliche Gr\u00fcnde oder haben bei ihm andere Dinge eine h\u00f6here Priorit\u00e4t?<\/strong><\/p>\n

SA: Sebastian hat einen zu vollen Terminkalender mit seiner eigenen Band und lebt au\u00dferdem auf der anderen Seite des Globus, was es f\u00fcr uns sehr schwer macht, ihn als Mitglied im Live Line Up dabei zu haben.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHF: Da wir gerade bei Priorit\u00e4ten sind, Du hast mit Crypta ein zweites Baby am Start und auch euer S\u00e4nger Alex ist noch in andere Projekte involviert. Wonach entscheidest Du\/ihr, welche Formation gerade Vorrang genie\u00dft?<\/strong><\/p>\n

SA: Nun, ich habe Crypta k\u00fcrzlich verlassen, um mich voll und ganz Cobra Spell zu widmen! Es ist also offensichtlich, dass Cobra Spell jetzt meine Nummer 1 Priorit\u00e4t hat (Anmerkung HF: Die Verk\u00fcndung von Sonias Abschied und die Vorbereitung f\u00fcr dieses Interview haben sich zeitlich \u00fcberschnitten).<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHF: Kein Interview ohne das leidige Thema Corona. Wie bist Du mit den Einschr\u00e4nkungen der Pandemie umgegangen? Hat es eure Planungen f\u00fcr die EP zur\u00fcckgeworfen und was habt ihr f\u00fcr die kommenden Monate geplant?<\/strong><\/p>\n

SA: Da wir keinen bestimmten Ver\u00f6ffentlichungstermin hatten, haben wir uns wirklich die Zeit genommen, die Songs in unserem eigenen Tempo von zu Hause aus zu entwickeln. Ich bin es gewohnt, Musik in meinem Zimmer zu komponieren, also hat die Pandemie meinen Arbeitsablauf beim Songwriting nicht ver\u00e4ndert. Das Einzige, was die Pandemie bewirkt hat, war, dass wir in dieser Zeit nicht in der Lage waren Konzerte zu spielen oder zu proben. Aber zum Gl\u00fcck kl\u00e4rt sich die Situation jetzt und die M\u00f6glichkeiten steigen! Bis jetzt haben wir zwei Touren angek\u00fcndigt: die Spanien-Tour mit Ross The Boss im April, und eine Europatour mit Enforcer und Evil Invaders. Au\u00dferdem haben wir eine Menge Shows und Festivals in ganz Europa gebucht. Und wir sind dabei, noch mehr Shows zu buchen, also bleibt dran!<\/em><\/p>\n

This time we talked to Sonia Anubis (ex-Burning Witches), guitarist of glam metallers COBRA SPELL, who recently released their second EP “Anthems Of The Night”.<\/strong><\/p>\n
HF: First of all, congratulations on your very successful EP. You like to describe yourselves as a “heavy rock band stuck in the 80s”. What is special about the 80s for you and how exactly did Cobra Spell come into being?<\/strong><\/p>\n
Sonia Anubis (SA): The 80s to me is a very special decade full of interesting sounds and aesthetics. I have never lived it myself but it surely seemed like an amazing time. The bands, the movies, the cars, the architecture\u2026 You name it! The 80s were awesome. So due to my passion for the 80s glam bands I felt inspired to start a band that would bring those times back, and pay homage to the 80s rock\/metal heroes. As a goal to bring the 80s back in the most authentic way possible and create a feeling of nostalgia.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHF: “Anthems Of The Night” is your second EP after “Love Venom”. Let’s ask heretically, why again “only” an EP? Is this just the harbinger for a full album or are you waiting for a suitable label offer?<\/strong><\/p>\n
SA: We believe quality over quantity. Having enough material to release an album, we decided regardless to release the tracks we felt were worthy enough to get released. Besides that we are an independent band (unsigned), with the budget that we are able to provide and the quality of <\/em>production we wanted to deliver it was only realistic to release an EP instead of an album for now.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHF: Sebastian Silva, with whom you founded the band, is no longer listed in the official line-up, but is still active in the band in the background. Is this only for scheduling reasons or do other things have a higher priority for him?<\/strong><\/p>\n
SA: Sebastian has a too busy schedule with his own band and is also living on the other side of the globe which makes it very hard for us to have him active in the live line-up.<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHF: Speaking of priorities, you have a second baby on the way with Crypta and your singer Alex is also involved in other projects. How do you decide which formation has priority at the moment?<\/strong><\/p>\n
SA: Well, I recently left Crypta to fully commit to Cobra Spell! So it is obvious that Cobra Spell is now my number 1 priority (Note: The announcement of Sonia’s departure and the preparation for this interview overlapped in time).<\/em><\/p>\n

\nHF: No interview is complete without the tiresome topic of Corona. How did you deal with the restrictions of the pandemic? Did it set back your plans for the EP and what do you have planned for the coming months?<\/strong><\/p>\n
SA: Since we didn\u2019t have any particular release deadline, we truly took the time to craft these songs on <\/em>our own pace from our own homes. I am used composing music in my room, so the pandemic truly <\/em>didn\u2019t change my song writing workflow. The only thing covid affected was for us to not be able to <\/em>play shows during that time or to come together to have rehearsals. But very luckily the situation is <\/em>now clearing up and opportunities are rising! We have two tours announced so far; Spain tour with Ross <\/em>The Boss in April, and Europe tour with Enforcer and Evil Invaders. Besides that we have lots of shows <\/em>and festivals spread out in Europe. And we are booking more, so stay tuned!<\/em><\/p>\n
