In Nordamerika waren es Ende der Nuller Jahre Blood Ceremony, in Europa zeitgleich The Devil\u2019s Blood. Das okkulte Blut dieser beiden Bands flie\u00dft heutzutage noch in den Adern gef\u00fchlter Heerscharen anderer Bands. Book of Wyrms<\/strong> aus Richmond im US-Bundesstaat Virginia sind eine dieser Bands. Stilistisch sind sie n\u00e4her an Blood Ceremony als an The Devil\u2019s Blood, man k\u00f6nnte sie fast als eine bed\u00e4chtigere Version der Erstgenannten bezeichnen.<\/p>\n

Mit \u201eOccult New Age<\/strong>\u201c liefert das Quartett ein durchaus gef\u00e4lliges zweites Album ab: Kein Instrument dr\u00e4ngelt sich jemals in den Vordergrund, zwischen Stimme, Gitarre, Orgel, Bass und Schlagzeug scheint es im Mix eine Art Nichtangriffspakt zu geben \u2013 und das tut der mystischen Stimmung sp\u00fcrbar gut. Selbst die gelegentlichen Eins\u00e4tze von Doppelbassdrums wirken eher behaglich. Viel von den Songs h\u00e4ngen bleibt zwar nicht, aber die Band scheint ohnehin eher Stimmungen als Ohrw\u00fcrmer im Sinn zu haben.<\/p>\n

Zu meiner Meinung geh\u00f6rt jedoch auch: Das Genre des Okkult Rocks im Sinne von Blood Ceremony hat sich mittlerweile ersch\u00f6pft. Sehr viele Bands z\u00e4umen wieder und wieder das gleiche Pferd auf und reiten damit in den n\u00e4chtlichen Kr\u00e4uterhexenwald.<\/p>\n

Deshalb sind\u2019s dann auch nur 6 von 10 Hellfire<\/strong><\/em>-Punkten. Vor ein paar Jahren w\u00e4ren es noch ein oder zwei Punkte mehr gewesen.<\/p>\n
