Mit dem <\/strong>Hellfire Quick5 <\/strong>Interview versuchen wir dem Leser m\u00f6glichst interessante Infos aus den Musikern rauszukitzeln, ohne dass sie sich seitenlangen Fragen\/Antworten hingeben m\u00fcssen.
\n<\/strong>Wir vom <\/strong>Hellfire<\/strong> bem\u00fchen uns, (mehr oder weniger) kurz und pr\u00e4gnant im Rahmen von 5 Fragen zu agieren (manchmal kann eine <\/strong>Frage auch gedoppelt oder getrippelt sein); dem Musiker obliegt es, nach seinem Gutd\u00fcnken zu antworten: kurz und knapp bis hin zu ausschweifend und umfangreich.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Da im World Wide Web nicht wirklich viel \u00fcber die f\u00fcnf Jungs um Shadowspawn aus D\u00e4nemark zu finden ist, bietet sich mir nun die Gelegenheit, hier mit meinen Fragen etwas mehr \u00fcber die Band von Kelvin Dam (Bass) zu erfahren.<\/strong><\/p>\n

HF: Gleich zu Anfang vielleicht eine der meist gestellten Fragen. Wie habt ihr euch zusammengefunden und wie ist der Bandname entstanden?<\/strong><\/p>\n

S:<\/em><\/strong> Wir haben Shadowspawn 2013 gegr\u00fcndet, Nicolai, Kelvin und unser ehemaliger S\u00e4nger Kenneth. In den 90ern spielten wir zusammen in einer Band namens Cinerator, und wir haben einfach weiter gemacht, wie wir damals angefangen haben. Dann ging Kenneth und wir hatten ein paar Line-Up-Wechseln; aber wir haben jetzt ein solides und stabiles Line-Up. Der Name war ein Titel eines unserer sehr fr\u00fchen Demo-Tracks und blieb uns irgendwie haften. Wir sind zufrieden damit \u2013 er ist dunkel und b\u00f6se und passt gut zu uns <\/em>\ud83d\ude0a<\/em><\/p>\n

HF: Was verbirgt sich hinter euren Songtiteln und was inspiriert euch beim Schreiben?
\n<\/strong>Ihr spielt old School Death mit einem gewissen Groove. Welche Band\/Bands haben euch beeinflusst, in die Fu\u00dfstapfen dieses Genres zu treten? Wer ist da euer gr\u00f6\u00dftes Vorbild?<\/strong><\/p>\n

S:<\/em><\/strong> Uh yeah \u2013 gro\u00dfe Frage mit einer l\u00e4ngeren Antwort haha! Titel und Themen drehen sich sehr oft um Religion und darum, wie Religion ein Kontrollfaktor und ein Mittel f\u00fcr Menschen an der Macht sein kann, um zu manipulieren, im Gegensatz zu der Tatsache, dass Religion einen friedlichen Weg beschreitet. Andere Themen k\u00f6nnen von Schmerz, Verzweiflung und Trauer handeln, die in unserer allt\u00e4glichen Gesellschaft begegnen. Wir sind mit Bands wie Deicide, Suffocation, Carcass, Death, Morbid Angel etc. aufgewachsen. und wir h\u00f6ren uns den Schei\u00df immer noch an. <\/em><\/p>\n

Das ist die gro\u00dfartige Musik 90er Jahre und der Soundtrack unserer Jugend. Also denke ich, wenn man einen Stapel von Platten aus dieser Zeit anschaut, bekommt man unsere Inspiration und unsere alten Helden genau dort aufgereiht;)<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

HF: Wie unterscheidet sich im Moment f\u00fcr euch der \u201enormale\u201c Band-Alltag von dem Band-Alltag unter den derzeit herrschenden Einschr\u00e4nkungen der Pandemie?<\/strong><\/p>\n

S:<\/em><\/strong> Nun, abgesehen davon, dass Leute krank werden und sterben dass Live-Shows abgesagt werden.
\n<\/em>Das ist f\u00fcr uns das Schlimmste. Bars werden geschlossen und Feiern sind nicht erlaubt; das ist das gr\u00f6\u00dfte \u00c4rgernis. Aber abgesehen davon konnten wir proben und neue Songs kreieren.<\/em><\/p>\n

HF: Gibt es Bands mit denen ihr gerne mal die B\u00fchne teilen w\u00fcrdet?<\/strong><\/p>\n

S:<\/em><\/strong> Wir lieben es, live zu spielen und rumzuh\u00e4ngen, ein paar Biere zu kippen und Metal Musik zu genie\u00dfen. Live spielen und interessante Leute treffen, darum geht es uns.
\n<\/em>Mir f\u00e4llt keine bestimmte Band ein, mit denen wir besonders gerne Touren wollen.<\/em><\/p>\n

HF: Aller guten Dinge sind drei, so sagt man und in diesem Jahr ver\u00f6ffentlicht ihr euer drittes Album. Gibt es schon neue Pl\u00e4ne, Ziele oder ist sogar schon neues Material f\u00fcr ein weiteres Album vorhanden? Oder wenn endlich wieder Live-Shows m\u00f6glich sind, gibt es da schon Line Up\u2018s, in denen ihr zu finden seid?<\/strong><\/p>\n

S:<\/em><\/strong> Ja, wir sind f\u00fcr das Naestved Metal Festival im August 2021 und zwei weitere Shows in D\u00e4nemark gebucht. Also eigentlich drei Shows\u2026.jetzt, wo Du es erw\u00e4hnst <\/em>\ud83d\ude0a
\n<\/em>Wir waren w\u00e4hrend der Pandemie sehr flei\u00dfig, so dass wir bereits jetzt eine Handvoll neuer Songs haben. Au\u00dferdem haben wir uns von Danni Jelsgaard (Schlagzeug) getrennt; also suchen wir nat\u00fcrlich nach einem Ersatz f\u00fcr ihn.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hellfire\u2018s Quick 5 interviews try to give lot of info within narrow frame of five questions and five answers. Sometimes can happen, that one question consists of two or three.
\n<\/strong>It\u2019s up to musicians to answer short, longer or excessively.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since there is not really much to find about the five guys around Shadowspawn from Denmark in the World Wide Web, I now have the opportunity to find out a bit more about the band here with my questions to Kelvin Dam (bass).<\/strong> <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

HF: Right off the bat, maybe one of the most frequently asked questions. How did you get together and how did the band name come about? <\/strong><\/p>\n

S:<\/em><\/strong> We formed Shadowspawn back in 2013, Nicolai, Kelvin and our former vocalist Kenneth. We used to play together in the 90\u2019s in a band called Cinerator, and we pretty much just continued what we began back then. Then Kenneth left and we have had a few line-up changes but have a solid and steady line-up now. The name was a title of one of our very early demo-tracks and it kinda stuck with us. We happy with it \u2013 its dark and evil and fits us quite well \ud83d\ude09<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

HF: What’s behind your song titles and what inspires your writing? You play old school death with a certain groove. What bands influenced you to follow in the footsteps of this genre? <\/strong>Who is your biggest role model? <\/strong><\/p>\n

S:<\/em><\/strong> Uh yeah \u2013 big question with an even longer answer haha! Titles and themes are very often centered around religion, and how religion can be a control factor and a means for people in power to manipulate, as oppose the fact that it is told as a peaceful path. Other themes can be pain, despair and grief, found in our everyday society.
\n<\/em>We grew up with bands like Deicide, Suffocation, Carcass, Death, Morbid Angel etc. and we still listen to that shit. That\u2019s just the awesome sound of the 90\u2019s and the soundtrack to our upgrowing\u2026so I guess if you stack a pile of records from that period, you got our inspiration and our old heroes lined up right there \ud83d\ude09<\/em><\/p>\n

HF: How does “normal” band life differ for you at the moment from band life under the current pandemic restrictions? <\/strong><\/p>\n

S:<\/em><\/strong> Well, apart from people getting sick and dying, then – live shows being cancelled \u2013 that\u2019s the worst part. Bars being closed and no festivals etc. is also a major bummer.
\n<\/em>But other than that, we have been able to rehearse and create new songs.<\/em><\/p>\n

HF: Are there any bands you would like to share the stage with? <\/strong><\/p>\n

S:<\/em><\/strong> We just love to play live and hang out, get some beers, and enjoy metal music. <\/em>Playing live and meeting interesting people, that\u2019s what its all about.
\n<\/em>So there is no band in particular that we look up to per say.<\/em><\/p>\n

HF: All good things come in threes, so they say, and this year you’re releasing your third album. Are there already new plans, goals or is there even new material for another album? Or when live shows are finally possible again, are there already line ups you can be found in?<\/strong><\/p>\n

S:<\/em><\/strong> Yes, we are booked for the Naestved Metal Festival in August 2021, and two more shows in Denmark at the moment. So three shows actually, now you mention it \ud83d\ude09
\n<\/em>We have been busy during the pandemic, so we already now have a handful of new tracks. Also we have parted ways with Danni Jelsgaard (drums), so we are looking into replacing him of course.<\/em><\/p>\n
