Das kanadische Sextett von DESPISED ICON kehrte vor kurzem mit ihrem sechsten Studioalbum zur\u00fcck und das auf eine Gesamtl\u00e4nge von 36:15 min. kommt. Deathcore oder auch Metalcore steht nicht gerade ganz oben auf meiner musikalischen Speisekarte aber ich bin ja f\u00fcr alles offen, zumindest meine Ohren.<\/p>\n

“Dernier Souffle<\/strong>” als Opener beginnt ruhig, gediegen, besinnlich und fast und romantisch aber dieser Schein tr\u00fcgt, denn mit mit dem gleichnamig folgenden Titelsong “Purgatory<\/strong>” wird mir schon gewaltig, untermalt von Double-Bass Attacken und growl gutturalem Gesang die M\u00fctze vom Sch\u00e4del gefegt, bevor er sich zum Ende hin ins Ziel schleppt. “Light Speed<\/strong>” ist eher Infernal oder High Speed mit unb\u00e4ndiger Energie, Unterbrechungen und wieder extremen Ausschweifungen. “Slow Burning<\/strong>” l\u00e4sst nichts anbrennen. Irgendwie geht aber alles seinen gewohnten Gang und Innovation\/Abwechslung steht nicht an vorderster Front. Will das die H\u00f6rerschaft \u00fcberhaupt? Wenn ich mal einen Fan treffe, frage ich ihn.<\/p>\n

Mit “Movin On<\/strong>” wird mir zumindest ein Hauch Death vermittelt, das Grundpaket gef\u00e4llt und es zaubert mir ein Grinsen ins Gesicht. “Unbreakable<\/strong>” und “Apex Predator<\/strong>” setzen dort nahtlos an, wo die Vorg\u00e4nger aufgeh\u00f6rt haben. “Legacy<\/strong>” stampft sch\u00f6n vorw\u00e4rts, forciert die Geschwindigkeit und erfreut meine Geh\u00f6rg\u00e4nge mit einem Hauch Hardcore, juhu und schon bin ich am Ende angekommen mit dem abschlie\u00dfenden “Dead Weight<\/strong>“, was noch mir noch einmal ordentlich die F\u00fc\u00dfe massiert und Gitarren-Solos pr\u00e4sentiert, wenn auch nur kurz.<\/p>\n

Fazit:<\/strong> Auf Dauer war dies einfach zu anstrengend und vorhersehbar f\u00fcr mich, f\u00fcr andere wird es die Offenbarung sein, eben jeder wie er mag!<\/p>\n
