Mit dem Hellfire Quick5 Interview versuchen wir für unsere Leser möglichst interessante Infos aus den Musikern rauszukitzeln, ohne dass sie sich seitenlangen Fragen/Antworten hingeben müssen. Wir vom Hellfire bemühen uns dabei, (mehr oder weniger) kurz und prägnant im Rahmen von 5 Fragen zu agieren (manchmal kann eine Frage auch gedoppelt oder getrippelt sein); den Musikern obliegt es, nach ihrem Gutdünken zu antworten: kurz und knapp bis hin zu ausschweifend und umfangreich.
Diesmal sprachen wir mit Sänger Luca Meini von Scarlet and the Spooky Spiders aus Italien.
HF: Hallo Luca, das letzte Mal haben wir uns 2018 zum WGT in Leipzig getroffen. Einige kennen euch vielleicht noch nicht. Vielleicht stellst Du die Band vor, wer Ihr seid und was Euch dazu bringt, Musik zu machen. Und wie lange macht ihr schon Musik?
LM: Hallo, ich freue mich immer, wenn ich über die Band reden muss. Wir sind Scarlet und die Spooky Spiders eine Band aus Italien. Wir spielen seit 2004 zusammen. Wir haben ein paar Drummer auf dem Weg verändert. Wir haben der Original-Combo eine Gitarre hinzugefügt, aber mehr oder weniger ist die Band von früher bis jetzt gleich. Wir spielen viele verschiedene Rock-and-Roll-Stile von den sechziger bis Anfang der achtziger Jahre, mit einer Haltung “in dein Gesicht” oder einer frühen “Punk’77” -Einstellung, wie wir es sagen. Wir haben ein paar Alben und ein Mini-Album veröffentlicht und in den letzten 10 Jahren hatten wir einige Songs auf einigen Compilations.
Wir haben alles Anfang 2004 angefangen, als wir feststellen, dass die meisten unserer lokalen Bands auf eine sehr langweilige und unerfreuliche Weise gespielt haben (für uns!). Wir entschieden uns also dafür, wieder Spaß am Rock & Roll zu haben (wie es immer sein sollte) !).
HF: Leider werdet ihr in Deutschland selten live gesehen … Was sind die Gründe dafür und ist eine Tour durch Deutschland in Kürze geplant?
LM: Um ehrlich zu sein, spielen wir von Anfang an in Deutschland! Ich glaube, wir hatten unsere erste Minitour um 2006 herum und wir haben ungefähr 10 Konzerte von Chemnitz bis Berlin gespielt. Von da an kamen wir immer wieder regelmäßig in ganz Europa vorbei und Deutschland ist immer das Land, in dem wir die meisten Gigs spielen. Da wir eine wirklich selbst produzierte Band sind (eigentlich sind wir immer noch nicht signiert!), Hatten wir kaum eine gute Promotion. So ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass die meisten Leute da draußen (noch!) nicht wissen, “wer zum Teufel Scarlet and the Spooky Spiders sind”. Aber für die Minderheit derer, die uns live gesehen haben, haben wir wohl einen guten Eindruck hinterlassen.
Eigentlich kann ich sagen, dass wir in den letzten 12 Jahren in ganz Europa gespielt haben … 12/14 Jahre hat uns eine Menge guter Stimmung und Erfahrung gebracht und… vor allem hatten wir die Gelegenheit, hunderte nette Menschen aus verschiedenen Ländern kennenzulernen. Wir haben noch immer gute Freunde in ganz Europa: in Deutschland, Österreich, Schweden, England, Tschechien, der Slowakei, Frankreich, Spanien usw. Also ja! Wir werden definitiv wieder in Deutschland sein, sobald das neue Album veröffentlicht wird.
HF: Seit letztem Jahr ist es etwas ruhiger um Euch geworden. Was ist seit dem WGT im letzten Jahr passiert? Ich habe gehört, dass ein neues Album in den Startlöchern wartet !?
LM: Wir haben das vergangene Jahr hinter uns, um unser letztes Album aufzunehmen und abzumischen, und wir arbeiten gerade an einem Videoclip, den wir auch mit dem Album veröffentlichen werden. Im Moment denke ich, dass alles in ein oder zwei Monaten fertig sein wird. Es gibt Pläne für eine Promotion-Tour im nächsten Herbst oder zumindest für die nächste Herbstsaison.
HF: In einem Gespräch mit Dir habe ich herausgefunden, dass es neben den Spooky Spiders noch Projekte gibt. Wen betrifft das in der Band und welche sind das?
LM: Ja, ich habe tatsächlich eine Nebenprojektband namens 0K (ill) ‘s (Zerokills). Ich spiele jetzt seit drei Jahren mit ihnen und wir haben unser Debütalbum vor etwa einem Jahr veröffentlicht. Lurch, einer unserer Gitarristen, spielt regelmäßig Slap-Bass in einer lokalen Rockabilly-Band. Momentan habe ich keine Neuigkeiten über das Side-Music-Projekt der anderen Jungs in der Band, aber ich weiß, dass einer von ihnen an zahlreichen Aktivitäten beteiligt ist, die mit Fotoshootings, Video-, Grafik- oder Musikproduktionen auf verschiedenen Ebenen zu tun haben.
HF: Wir haben bereits erwähnt, dass es ein neues Album geben wird. Bitte erzähl den Hellfire-Lesern, was Sie erwartet. Worauf können wir uns in naher Zukunft freuen?
LM: Wir sind alle sehr gespannt auf das neue Album. Ich denke, es wird ein Fortschritt in der Bandgeschichte sein. Bei jedem Album, das wir veröffentlicht haben, haben wir versucht, der Mischung etwas Neues hinzuzufügen. Ich denke, dass wir eine sehr ekleptische Band sind, mit tausenden verschiedenen Musikeinflüssen und von Anfang an hatten wir schwierige Zeiten, um nur mit einer Szene in Verbindung zu stehen. Dieses Mal mischen und kombinieren wir erneut Styles und Stimmungen, sodass wir hektische und schnelle Punk’n’Roll-Songs mit einigen anderen sanfteren Melodien kombiniert haben. Es ist in gewisser Weise eine Art Konzept und ich hoffe wirklich, dass die Leute das Album mindestens zur Hälfte genießen werden, so wie wir es aufgenommen haben. Dieses Mal arbeiten wir auch an Videoclips für das neue Album, zwei der neuen Songs stehen kurz vor der Fertigstellung und ein paar weitere sind in Vorbereitung. Sobald das Album veröffentlicht wird, planen wir die größtmögliche Show, um es zu promoten. Wir hoffen, dass viele deutsche Clubs für die nächste Tour in die Liste aufgenommen werden. Die Spooky Show muss immer weiter gehen…. Bleib krank !

Hellfire Quick 5 interviews try to gather a lot of interesting information within the narrow frame of five questions and five answers. Sometimes a query may be divided into two or three partial questions. It’s up to the musicians to answer short, longer or excessively.
This time we talked to Singer Luca Meini from Scarlet and the Spooky Spiders.
HF: Hi Luca, the last time we met in 2018 for the WGT in Leipzig. Some may not know You yet. Maybe You’ll introduce the Band to who You are and what drives you to make Music. And how long have You been making Music?
LM: Hi there, it’s always a pleasure for me when I have to talk about the band. We are Scarlet and the Spooky Spiders a band from Italy. We are playing together since 2004. We have changed a couple of drummer on the way, add a guitar to the original combo but more or less the band is the same from there so far. We play many different style of rock and roll from the sixties to the early eighties, with an “in your face” attitude or an early “punk ’77” attitude as we use to say. We have released a couple of Album, a mini Album and we had a bunch of songs on some compilations in the last 10 years. We started it all in the early 2004 when we do realize that most of the local band around us played in a very boring and unpleased way ( for us !) so we decide to have fun playing rock and roll again ( as it ALWAYS should be !).
HF: Unfortunately, you are rarely seen live in Germany … What are the Reasons for this and is a Tour through Germany planned soon?
LM: To be honest we use to play in Germany from the very beginning ! I think we have our first mini tour around 2006 or so on and we played about 10 gigs from Chemnitz to Berlin. Back from then we use to come over all around Europe every now and then quite regularly and Germany is always the country where we play most of the gigs. Of course because we are a really self produced band (actually we are still unsigned !) we hardly had a good promotion so isn’t strange that most of the people out there aren’t well aware ( yet !) of “who the fuck are Scarlet and the Spooky Spiders”. But for the minority of them who have seen us live I think we left quite a good impression. Actually I can say that playing around Europe in the last … 12 /14 years gave us a lot of good vibes and experience and …most important of all we had the chance to meet hundreds of nice people from different country.
We still have good friends all around Europe: in Germany, Austria, Sweden, England, Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Spain and so on .. So yes ! Definitively we will come back in Germany as soon as the new album will be released.
HF: There has been something quiet around You the last Time. What has happened to You since the WGT last Year? I’ve heard it’s a new album waiting in the Wings!?
LM: We past the last year recording and mixing our last album and we are working just now on a couple of video clip that we will release with the album too. At the moment I think everything will be ready in a month or two. There are plans on the way for a promotional tour next Autumn or at least next fall season.
HF: In Conversation with you, I heard out that there are still Projects next to the Spooky Spiders. Who does that concern from the Band and what is it?
LM: Yes I actually have a side project band called 0K(ill)’s (Zerokills). I play with them for three years now and we have released our debut album about one year ago. Lurch, one of our guitar player is regularly playing slap bass in a local Rockabilly band. At the moment I don’t have any news about side music project from the other guys in the band but I know that any of them is involved in plenty activities related with photo shooting, video, graphic or music production at different levels.
HF: We have already mentioned that there will be a new Album … Please tell the Hellfire Readers what to expect. What can we look forward to in the near future?
LM: We are all really excited about the new album. I think it will be a step forward in the band history. On any album we have released we tried to add something new in the mixture. I think we are a kind of very ecleptic band, with thousands of different music influences and from the beginning we had hard times to be related to only one scene. This time we mix and match again styles and moods, so we have combined frantic and fast punk’n’ roll songs with some others kind of more smooth tunes. It’s a kind of concept in some ways and I really hope people out there will enjoy the album at least half the way we enjoied record it. This time we are working on video clips too for the new album, two of the new songs are about to be ready and a couple more are on the way. As soon as the album will be released we will start to schedule the more show we can to promote it so we hope to add many Germany clubs on the list for the next tour. The Spooky Show must go on and on …. Stay Sick !
